Hello All,
Thank you for your continued support of, and interest in, Spinnaker Orpington.
It might have been a little while since you last heard from us, so what have we been up to?

Katie, Barbara and I currently visit these schools: Blenheim, Chelsfield, Crofton Juniors, Darrick Wood Juniors, Farnborough, Green Street Green, Midfield, Pratts Bottom, St Paul’s Cray, Tubbenden and Warren Road. Some we visit fortnightly, some once per half-term or term. We have presented 140 assemblies so far this school year and would love to share our assemblies with those Orpington schools we don’t visit, so please pray for opportunities to do this.
We have also helped some schools with their Religious Education curriculum. Katie and I are registered as School Speakers on the RE Hubs website, and we have been involved with Green Street Green and Warren Road schools' visits to Green Street Green Baptist Church, to help Year 2 learn about what makes a church. I also talked to Year 3 at Darrick Wood Juniors about this topic and shared what being a Christian meant to me, with Year 1 at Grays Farm. We both led an interactive lesson on the events of Easter and its importance to Christians to Year 2 at Green Street Green. We love spending time with classes as there are chances to hear what the children think and to (try to) answer their questions. Please pray for more opportunities to speak with classes.

I was invited to share Spinnaker Orpington’s work at the Churches Together in Orpington AGM in March and was very encouraged by the interest and support of those who attended. I also got to display Spinnaker’s fantastic new banner as well as our usual display board! It’s great to share what we do; we are always happy to be invited to talk to churches and groups, so please contact me if you would like a visit! ([email protected])

Katie, Barbara and I were also involved in the first Easter RE day at St Mark’s Primary in Bromley. I led a dance workshop on the events and emotions of Holy Week, whilst Katie and Barbara led a craft workshop on God’s love and forgiveness. We all helped with craft activities in the afternoon and finished with a praise party. This term, we are looking forward to being part of Trinity Primary School’s ‘Trinity Day’ in June, which will be very similar in structure but with the Holy Spirit as its theme.
We are all also involved in Bromley Schools Festival again, for two days at the end of June. I will be dancing again, and Katie and Barbara will be taking a sock puppet workshop! We love these events and eventually would like to be able to run something similar in Orpington. Please pray for the events of this term and future opportunities.

Katie and I have been involved with writing this year’s new assemblies – Beyond Belief: Values into Action. The wider Spinnaker team collated our schools’ values and have produced assemblies for each, 39 in total. We’ve been using them in our schools, and the children are really enjoying them! You can see them, and the fantastic accompanying illustrations, PowerPoints and podcasts on our website 👇
