The team members in Epsom and Ewell send warmest greetings for the coming year.
We delivered a full programme of RE Days throughout 2025 in all our regular schools, and we persist in keeping contact with the schools we visit sporadically, depending on curriculum needs. This is especially useful if there has been a change in Head Teacher or RE Lead, and we have seen this bear fruit this year, as both our less regular schools have invited us back 😊. Our aim is to deliver an RE Day for each year group every year, and it is very rewarding when we see the same faces year by year and are also recognised by the children
We were busy at the end of last term with our Christmas assembly, following the experience of Kim, a normal young person chosen to become earth’s newest Super Hero As well as learning trust and confidence, she learned that, like Mary and Joseph, even the most humble of people are valued by God and are able to do great things.
We started this term as we mean to go on with an RE Day sharing how Jesus explained what God’s Kingdom was like. Once again, our faithful secret agents returned to help Year 4 pupils crack secret coded messages from Agent J. based on parables. They learned the need to forgive, love everyone and most importantly, that they are priceless treasures in God’s eyes. The term sees a further 7 RE Days, including our popular Easter workshop which follows Jesus and his friends through the events of Holy Week.
RE Days are a joy to deliver but they are in addition to the regular Assemblies delivered week by week plus a weekly lunch club at one school. We believe that faithful persistence and regular contact is key to helping children build their own relationship with Jesus and to learn of God’s love.
In June of 2025 I had the privilege of being appointed the Minister of Epsom Baptist Church. I am delighted to say that the church is fully committed to the work that Spinnaker does in primary schools in our area. They see how important it is to take the word of God to children through the RE days, assemblies and fish clubs. They continue to support the ministry and are happy for me to continue in the role of Spinnaker Epsom Hub leader. It is a role that I love and consider to be a privilege. I work with such a great team of volunteers who give up their time regularly to achieve all that we do, I would not be able to do it without them. The opportunity to sow seeds into the lives of children, praying that they would reap an eternal harvest is incredible.
Prayer Points:
For our forthcoming RE Days, that they may sow the seeds of faith to the children that share them.
For children, staff and support workers at our local schools
Wishing you, our schools and all our supporters every blessing for 2026.
With Warmest Wishes
Lisa Bell
Epsom & Ewell Hub Leader
