Hello All,

Katie, Barbara and I have enjoyed our visits to school this term, continuing to share our ‘It’s Jesus’ collective worships with the children and staff. We have visited 9 schools in the local area, most fortnightly:

  • Blenheim Primary
  • Chelsfield Primary
  • Crofton Juniors (Y4 and Y6)
  • Darrick Wood Juniors
  • The Highway Primary
  • Midfield Primary (KS1 and KS2 separately)
  • Pratts Bottom Primary
  • St Paul’s Cray CE Primary
  • Warren Road Primary (KS1 and KS2 separately)

Please pray for these schools. We would like to visit more schools in Orpington to share ‘It’s Jesus’, so pray for opportunities and open doors to those schools close to you.

I was invited to Midfield school to talk to Years 4 and 5 about being a Christian, to support their RE lessons, where they had been learning about showing commitment to God and whether Christians need to go to church. It was lovely spending time with the children, talking about my experiences, hearing their ideas and answering their questions. The teachers said it was great for the children to hear about personal experiences, which is something I can do as an invited Christian visitor.

Katie, Barbara and I were also involved in Bromley Schools Festival, which a couple of Orpington schools attended. This is held at Bromley Parish Church over two days of shared worship, talks and a wide variety of workshops on the theme of our creator God. Katie and Barbara led a puppet workshop and I led a dance workshop. The children participated with enthusiasm and we had a great time.

It was great to chat with everyone who joined us at our coffee morning at Orpington Baptist Church and thank you for the donations towards our work locally.

We are grateful to OBC for hosting and to Chris Hollands, a local headteacher, who shared what Spinnaker means to him and his school. We had a lovely time and hope to put on another social event in the autumn.

“I love hearing stories about Jesus!” This was said to me by a child who had stayed behind after a recent collective worship to talk to me. She also wanted to tell me about going to church and singing the songs I play as they come into the hall. It was a lovely special moment as she shared her faith with me. This is one of many reasons why we visit schools.

Are you interested in being more involved? Would you like to present collective worship in schools? Would you like to help with fundraising or raising awareness of Spinnaker in your church? Please email me at [email protected]

Thank you for your continued support and we hope you have a lovely summer!

Caroline
